International open access week will be held October 22-28. Open access benefits are multidimensional: society has access to publicly funded research results, publications in open access are more often read and cited, more exposure to research production increases research transparency, higher efficiency associated to open access benefit advanced economies. Academic libraries focus on ensuring open access to publications and research data.

Kaunas University of Technology Library joins the international initiative by inviting academic community to participate in organized activities.

TRAININGS eLABa repository:publications upload and report generation

Training session is for scientists, researchers and all academic community members who prepare publications. During training session structure of academic electronic library eLABa, publication registration system, report generation possibilities will be presented.

MOVIE Paywall: The Business of Scholarship screaning

Paywall: The Business of Scholarship is a documentary which focuses on the need for open access to research and science, questions the rationale behind the $25.2 billion a year that flows into for-profit academic publishers, examines the 35-40% profit margin associated with the top academic publisher Elsevier and looks at how that profit margin is often greater than some of the most profitable tech companies like Apple, Facebook and Google.
Movie screening will be held in Central library on the 24 th of October (Wednesday) at 4 p.m.

Excursion Unique library treasures

In excursion, you will hear the history how Library was established, visit book stocks, see the oldest book preserved in Kaunas libraries, the oldest printed books – incunabulum, library fragments, which belonged to famous people or manors.
Excursions will be held in Central Library (Gedimino st. 50):
• 22nd of October., 4 p.m.-5 p.m.
• 23rd of October., 11 a.m.- 12 p.m.
• 24th of October., 4 p.m.-5 p.m.
• 25th of October., 11 a.m.- 12 p.m.
