Open science is becoming an increasingly important part of the academic community. Research funding bodies such as the Research Council of Lithuania and the European Commission require that research results be made openly accessible, while research data must be managed in accordance with the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable).
In practice, researchers often face questions on how to properly organise data, choose appropriate publication strategies, or comply with funders’ requirements. These challenges are particularly relevant for early-career researchers who are just beginning their independent research paths.
To support researchers, the KTU Library’s Research Information Services Department has initiated the KTU Open Science Community (KTU OSC). This informal community brings together researchers interested in and practicing open science. Its aim is to create a safe and open environment for discussion, where participants can share experiences, raise questions, and seek solutions together.
The community is coordinated by data manager and PhD candidate in Physics at KTU, Marjan Monshi. In collaboration with colleagues from Research Information Services she invites the community to take part in regular meetings.
Join the monthly meetings
Researchers and doctoral students are invited to participate in monthly KTU OSC meetings, where key open science topics are discussed. Each meeting focuses on a specific issue, and participants are encouraged to propose topics themselves.
Examples of discussion topics include:
Meetings are held in English and take place in a hybrid format – both on-site at the University Campus Library and online via MS Teams. Participants are encouraged to join in person to engage in discussions and connect informally with peers.
We invite you to actively contribute by sharing your questions and suggesting topics within the OSC virtual environment.
Next meeting: June 15.
More information and registration are available on the MS Teams platform (in English).
