Clarivate Analytics has published the 2026 edition of the Journal Citation Reports (JCR), which presents bibliometric metrics for journals for the previous year, 2025. The latest JCR metrics are now available in the eLABa repository.
First published in 1975, the JCR became an important tool in academic publishing with the introduction of the Journal Impact Factor (JIF), based on 1974 journal citation data.
In the 2026 edition of the Journal Citation Reports, metrics are available for 22,643 journals across 254 categories, and 521 journals received a JIF for the first time. The number of journals published in China and India grew the fastest. Compared to the 2025 edition of the JCR, the number of Gold Open-Access journals increased from 6,302 to 6,703, or by 6%.
You can learn more about the new changes in the 2026 edition of the JCR in the Clarivate Analytics press release.
We also invite you to register for the webinar taking place on July 2 at 4:00 p.m., during which database representatives will present the JCR 2025 edition and related changes.
