Important | 2026-05-27

From May 18–22, Library Director Dr. Gintarė Tautkevičienė and Head of the Research Information Services Unit Aistė Pranckutė participated in the Erasmus+ staff mobility week organized by the University of Vienna Library. The five-day event brought together academic library professionals from Croatia, Italy, Poland, France, Hungary, Switzerland, and Lithuania.

During presentations and discussions, the main focus was placed on one of the priority areas of the University of Vienna Library’s activities—open science and research data management. The University of Vienna Library supports and develops an institutional research data repository, organizes and provides assistance with submitting research data to the repository, coordinates the activities of the Austrian Social Science Data Archive (AUSSDA), develops a network of data stewards within the university, and ensures timely and high-quality support for researchers at all stages of the research process—from preparing data management plans to processing data and preparing them for long-term preservation.

Specialists from the University of Vienna Library presented the university’s open science and open access policies, infrastructure for storing research outputs and data, the application of bibliometric analysis in research evaluation, the activities of data stewards, and the need to develop researchers’ competences in research data management, as well as other issues relevant to academic libraries.

During the mobility week, participants actively shared professional experience and best practices applied in their respective countries’ libraries. Participation in the Erasmus+ mobility week not only provided new ideas and insights but also created opportunities to establish and strengthen international connections with library professionals from other countries.
