The Library offers group sessions or one-to-one training for you to make the most of our resources. We can also assist in developing your study skills by offering courses on how to evaluate information sources and references properly and to avoid plagiarism.

Training sessions

Bibliographical references management program Mendeley

Duration: 45 minutes
Target audience: All students, researchers, lecturers
Place: All KTU Libraries

During training session, participants will find out how to use bibliographical management program „Mendeley“.In training session participants will learn how to create user accounts, preserve bibliographical data and create bibliographical records manually. Furthermore, participants will get familiar how to install plugin to Microsoft Word program, allowing to insert in-text citations and automatically generating list of references according to selected citation style.

Duration: 45 minutes
Target audience: All students, researchers, lecturers
Place: All KTU Libraries

Participants will get introduced with reference management program ”Refworks“ subscribed by KTU.  In training session participants will learn how to create user accounts, preserve bibliographical data and create bibliographical records manually. Furthermore, participants will get familiar how to install plugin to Microsoft Word program, allowing to insert in-text citations and automatically generating list of references according to selected citation style.

Different styles of citation used in Lithuania and internationally will be introduced. APA citation style will be presented. Concept of copyrights, plagiarism prevention and instructions on how to provide in-text citations will be explained in detail. Participants of this training session will learn how to provide in-text citation and prepare a list of references.

Place: Mechanical Engineering and Design Library, Civil Engineering and Architecture Library, Informatics Library, Chemical Technology Library, Panevėžys Faculty of Technologies and Business Library

Different styles of citation used in Lithuania and internationally will be introduced. ISO 690:2010 citation style will be presented in detail. Concept of copyrights, plagiarism prevention and instructions on how to provide in-text citations will be explained. Participants of this training session will learn how to provide in-text citation and prepare a list of references according to ISO 690:2010 standard.

How to find information resources for your master thesis/ course paper? (technological and physical sciences)

Duration: 45 minutes
Target audience: All students
Place: Mechanical Engineering and Design Library, Civil Engineering and Architecture Library, Informatics Library, Chemical Technology Library, Panevėžys Faculty of Technologies and Business Library

Students will learn how to plan their search, strategy: select proper key words, information search tools, formulate request for search system or selected database. Information search tools and possibilities how to use them will be presented. After finding information students will learn how to evaluate search results, specify search question, select reliable, thematically appropriate resources and familiarize with search peculiarities of e-books, journal articles, conference proceedings, statistical data, final thesis, doctoral dissertations and other resources.

How to upload final project to eLABa repository

Duration: Theoretical lecture – 45 minutes, theoretical lecture with the practice – 1 hour 30 minutes
Target audience: Bachelor’s and Master‘s degree students
Place: All KTU Libraries

Students will familiarize with eLABa repository where final thesis, doctoral dissertations and dissertation summaries are stored. During training session login links to eLABa repository will be provided, methodological material and instructions how to upload e-document to repository, how to prepare metadata and the main file. Students will learn how to select subject field and area, key words, how annotation should be prepared, what are the main elements of PDF file, how plagiarism detection is carried out. Practical examples, how to upload  final thesis will be presented. During consultations, students can login to eLABa repository and upload their final thesis.

Intellectual property rights and plagiarism prevention

Duration: 45 minutes
Target audience: All students, researchers, lecturers
Place: All KTU Libraries

Students will get familiar with intellectual property law, copyright and related rights act, property and non-property rights, will get familiar with the requirements applied for using works of other authors for teaching and research, learn about Creative Commons licenses, allowing to use works created by other authors and indicating conditions which allow to share and use works without copyright infringement.
