SAGE Research Methods and SAGE Journals online training session on Wednesday 16th January:

  • 2pm-3pm SAGE Research Methods

Session description:

This session will give you a solid introduction to the SAGE Research Methods platform, a database containing thousands of resources, dedicated to research methods across a range of subject areas. The session will cover content and tools you can use in order to improve the research skills and capabilities of your users, and in overcoming common research challenges. This session would be perfect for library staff who support research activity across the institution’s academic community, faculty members who are teaching Research Methods courses, supervising researchers, and those conducting their own research projects. Participants will also have time to ask questions, so that by the end of the session, everyone will be ready to start exploring the platform independently and confidently.

  • 3pm-4pm SAGE Journals

Session description:

This session will give you a solid introduction to two SAGE Journals collections: Premier 2016 contains 930 journal titles (KTU subscribes 538 journals), and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers contains 18 titles, giving you access to timely, high-quality, peer-reviewed research articles in your subject area. SAGE publishes in many disciplines, from Communication, Education and Psychology through to Engineering, Medicine and Research Methods. We will start off with a short introduction to both of these collections, and then go on to a live platform demonstration to look at how to browse and search for journals, how to access key information about a journal and article, and how to create an Account to save searches and favourite journals, and set up email alerts. Participants will have plenty of time to ask questions, so that by the end of the session, everyone will be ready to start exploring the platform independently. This session would be perfect for library staff, faculty members, students and researchers.

Tips and advice:

  • As long as you have speakers and can hear the presenter, you should be able to enjoy the session.
  • You may join this online meeting room at any time up until the session, so feel free to try a test call and practise the audio connection between now and the session.
  • If you need any help at all, please email the session host, Chloe Turner, on Chloe.Turner@sagepub.co.uk
