We invite you to read an article about the role of library professionals in fostering citizen science within the academic community, how librarians can contribute to the development of citizen science projects, and the benefits it brings to researchers.
In the interview section of the article, members of the citizen science working group and library staff from the University of Tartu in Estonia share their efforts to develop citizen science services in academic libraries. All of them participated in the “LibOCS” project, which aimed to enhance librarians’ qualifications in the field of citizen science across the Baltic countries, support academic libraries’ involvement in citizen science research at their institutions, and encourage participation.
Library of Kaunas University of Technology also actively participated in this project by contributing to the development of “Citizen Science for Librarians: Self Paced Learning Course” and, this year, establishing a Citizen Science Hub to encourage the academic community to explore and engage in citizen science initiatives.
