In Kaunas University of Technology major emphasis is given to formal and non-formal education, Library also prioritizes this activity. One of the tools to accumulate and evaluate non-formal education competences are digital badges. These micro-certificates showcase competencies and give advantages looking for practice place or work place and adding additional points while taking part in university scholarships competitions.
According to head of Library Information Services Vilija Dzingienė, need to give badges for participation in library training sessions was identified seeking to provide favorable conditions to store and renew students competence portfolio.
As it was emphasized by the head of Library Information Services Vilija Dzingienė, to earn badges is fairly simple. First of all, student has to download mobile app “Badge Wallet“ and register. After participation in training session student has to scan QR code which will be given by librarian. Student who participates in at least 3 library sessions and collects at least 3 cumulative badges receives one badge and certificate, which indicates trainings sessions student has participated in.
