KTU Library participates in the international Erasmus+ project “Supporting Ukraine through citizen engagement at Baltic Universities (Baltics4UA)”, which started on 1 February this year. The project involves 6 partners – Tallinn University (Estonia), University of Tartu (Estonia), University of Latvia (Latvia), Kaunas University of Technology (Lithuania), Lviv Polytechnic National University (Ukraine), Web2Learn (Greece). Project ends on 01/02/2025.
Baltics4UA’ s general objective is to enhance Baltic universities’ social responsibility through civic engagement actions to address the Ukrainian humanitarian crisis in the Baltics.
The project is centered on working with different young social and ethnic groups (Ukrainian refugees, citizens of Baltic countries, European and international students present in Baltic HEIs). The Baltics4UA project seeks to emphasize not only civic engagement and solidarity of HE students, staff, and civil society actors but also the design of transparent and sustainable actions as means of a stronger voice in the academia-society continuum, where academic knowledge is put to the service to a humanitarian goal.
On 9-10 February 2023, the Baltics4UA partners’ Kick-off meeting was held at Tallinn University to discuss the project’s objectives, deadlines and possible challenges to achieving the goals. Aistė Pranckutė, an employee of the KTU Library, presented the initiatives of Kaunas University of Technology aimed at Ukrainian citizens – material and psychological support, study and employment opportunities at the university.
