Since Russia aggressive invasion to Ukraine on 24 February 2022, many Ukrainian people have been forced to flee their homes and seek refuge in safer places. The Baltic states have become a safe haven for Ukrainians. This harsh reality has highlighted the need to upgrade the qualifications of higher education staff and to strengthen the capacity of Baltic higher education institutions to respond to crises. This led several Baltic universities, together with the Lviv Polytechnic National University, to come together and initiate the Baltics4UA project, which aims to increase the social responsibility of Baltic universities to carry out civic engagement activities in response to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.
The Library is participating in the Erasmus+ project Baltics4UA. Baltics4UA stimulates innovative educational practices and staff upskilling at Baltic higher education institutions through cross-cultural dialogue, citizen engagement, business and academic cooperation. The project focuses on integrating the values of human dignity, human rights and solidarity in Baltic societies.
