Important | 2025-12-03

On December 2, the Social Sciences and Humanities Library hosted an event to discuss how libraries can become an even stronger support point for communities experiencing various crises. Library staff from various institutions participated in the event, and the program included presentations by international experts, presentations of practical tools, and discussions.

The event participants were introduced to case studies covering 5 topics: employment opportunities and inclusion, disinformation during conflicts, information overload management during crises, special needs, and emotional health and well-being. In the Lithuanian context, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gintarė Tautkevičienė (KTU), Rasa Seliuginienė (KTU), and Marjan Monshi (KTU) shared their practical experience, discussing the improvement of integration and employment opportunities for foreign students.

The event ended with an active discussion, in which the participants discussed the possibilities of libraries to provide emotional, informational, and educational support to communities in the face of crises, as well as possible further actions in this area.

The event is organized within the framework of the Erasmus+ project “Open Science for Vulnerable Communities: Empowering University Libraries in Crisis Response” (CAELUM) 2024-1-EE01-KA220-HED-000243324
